Liberty Ale was first brewed in 1975 and was one of the very first American IPAs. Remaining largely unchanged since then, by today's standards it is a crisp copper ale with a dry mouthfeel and a great balance of malt and hop characteristics. It pours a very transparent, copper color with a lot of champagne-sized bubbles. This is a great beer for your summer barbecue.

I only rated this a 3, but this is still a respectable beer that paved the way for a lot of the beers that we drink today. They've been making this for 40 years so it's obviously stood up well over time!

3 rating I had a 5 month old bottle. This contributes to my rating. Liberty Ale is a very nice American IPA. Nice color and head retention. I did get subtle dandy lions, grapefruit and big malt aromas. Rating may change if I get my hands on a fresher bottle
