Lagunitas Brown Shugga'
Rating:
What did you think of it? Never Tried It

Pours a reddish, copper color with an aroma that is both hoppy and sweet like caramel. On the taste there is more caramel malt, brown sugar, and sweet roasted flavors. Full bodied and sticky in the mouthfeel, yet very smooth. The sweetness balances out the hops but still really dominates, especially on the finish. This is a unique beer and there's no masking the 9.8% ABV. Perfect for winter time but a few of these could be quite dangerous!

Hop heaviness up front which quickly fades to malty sweetness. Reminds me of a Barleywine, which according to Lagunitas, is where this brew started. The malty sweetness does take away from the hops, I prefer a little more of a balance or even more of the hops to come through. The nearly 10% ABV is masked well within the flavor making this a nice winter warmer. Overall a nice beer that I am glad I stumbled upon.cantaloop Dec 1, 2015 at 4:29PM
